PHYSIOTHERAPIST, SARAH TROST ON MAKING EXERCISE A PART OF YOUR DAILY ROUTINE!

What keeps you excited about Physiotherapy?

I love my job because I think there is nothing better than helping a patient to gain back living quality. Seeing the smile on a patient’s face after full recovery of an injury or severe problem is the biggest reward for me as a therapist. It never gets boring since every patient is different and also because the medical field is rapidly developing which gives me the chance to continuously extend my skills.

What can a patient expect from a consultation/treatment with you?

My patients get an individual, holistic approach to every health problem. I take the time which is necessary to address the root of the problem and find a treatment strategy together with the patient to achieve her/his goals. An important part of the treatments is individual exercises, which allows the patients to better manage their problems by themselves and with a long term, continuous effect.

Your top tip?

Make treatment and exercise a part of your daily routine. Define a time slot where you keep practising on a daily base and do something good for you. Go beyond the treatment and try to adapt your lifestyle.

Your favourite at-home exercise?

There is not a “one-for-all-exercise“. I like to do home yoga or pilates. For patients with medical problems, individual exercises are necessary, which can be done really well with online consultations.

What have you been doing for self-care during this time?

The current times hold a great gift: time – which I use to develop a more healthy lifestyle. We are cooking a lot with a focus on natural nutrients and I also get more in touch with friends and family.
