What is yoga?
The Indian sage Patanjali is believed to have collated the practice of yoga into the Yoga Sutras around 2,000 years ago. The word yoga, comes from the Sanskrit word yuj meaning to yoke or bind and is often interpreted as 'union'. Today most people practicing yoga are engaged in the physical element, traditionally aimed at building the strength, flexibility and stamina required to be seated on the floor for long periods of meditation. A physical yoga practice involves moving through a sequence of postures with the breath, including forward bends, back bends, balances and inversions.
The Fix approach to yoga
At Fix we know that a regular yoga practice builds strength and flexibility, which are key to maintaining optimum movement and function and preventing injury. Yoga also helps to strengthen the mind - body connection and teaches you to still the mind, something all of us in London can use!
A focus on sound alignment and mindful movement is at the heart of our approach. With excellent anatomical knowledge, many years of yoga experience and an adaptive, inclusive approach to the practice, our teachers will be able to guide you through a well rounded yoga practice.
