Yoga teacher | Massage therapist
Laura has been practicing yoga for many years, initially coming to the mat following an injury and being amazed at how regular practice helped to strengthen and stabilise her shoulder. She completed an 18 month teacher training with Yogacampus London, RYS 200hr, and has completed further trainings with leading international yoga teachers including Doug Keller, Richard Freeman and Jason Crandell. Her yoga classes are balanced, building heat with challenges, before cooling and calming the nervous system, to leave you feeling great! Classes are open to all levels, from beginner to advanced. You can expect the Fix approach to yoga - sound alignment cues and options given to progress, building your strength & flexibilty with regular practice.
As a yoga teacher, Laura developed an interest in anatomy and rehabilitation after observing her students' movement patterns, which led her to study a BTEC Level 5 in Sports and remedial Massage at NLSSM.
Sports and remedial massage can be beneficial for everyone, and is not limited to sports people! As a therapist, Laura treats a range of clients, from those suffering from postural or occupational aches and pains, or injuries, to active clients who need regular treatment to maintain optimal muscle functioning. Treatments often include postural and range of motion tests and use hands on techniques to identify muscular imbalances, dysfunction and any compensation patterns in the body.
A variety of massage techniques including deep tissue, soft tissue release, trigger point, muscle energy techniques and stretching are used to release tension & restrictions. As a yoga practitioner and teacher Laura has an intuitive understanding of movement, enabling her to tailor rehabilitation exercises and stretches to help maintain the benefits of massage treatment long term.
