Jo Pertwee

Massage therapist

Originally from Norfolk but living and practising in the East End of London, Jo holds a BTEC level 5 diploma in Clinical Sports and Remedial Massage Therapy with the Institute of Sport and Remedial Massage (ISRM) having studied with the London School of Sports Massage (LSSM).

As well as her membership of the ISRM, Jo holds an additional Pregnancy Massage diploma and is also a certified Rock Doc, qualified in kinesiology taping, having completed both of the Rocktape Fascial Movement taping courses.

Jo has a lifelong interest in sport both as a spectator and as a participant. Having run competitively at county level in her teens, she remains an enthusiastic recreational athlete and has taken part in several triathlons, 10Ks and half marathons as well as running in the Dunstable Downs 20 mile challenge and the Loch Ness Marathon in 2009 and completing a long distance cycling challenge for charity in France in 2013.

When working with her clients, Jo’s primary goal is to try to understand the root cause of their individual issues and to help remedy this rather than simply using appointments to ‘patch up’. She works with her clients to find out what is causing the problem, what manual techniques are most effective for them as individuals and what works for them to help prevent the issue from recurring in the future. She has treated elite competitive athletes (such as members of the Paralympics GB Men’s Sitting Volleyball team), recreational athletes (including runners, triathletes, footballers, rugby players and kick boxers) new mothers and those with occupational and postural problems..

Jo Pertwee has been working on my body for two years now, every two weeks for an hour, during which time my running has increased in volume and speed and my musculature has not suffered any serious setbacks, for which I am very grateful to her full understanding and sensitive massage and manipulation and advice. In my seventy-fifth year I am a fine example of her successful therapy.
