Natasha Vieira

Pilates Teacher

Natasha began her Pilates journey over 15 years ago when she moved to the UK from Jersey to train professionally as a dancer at Elmhurst Ballet School in Surrey. Pilates was an integral part of her curriculum designed to keep the dancers strong, lean and injury-free. She continued to practice Pilates throughout her education and continued her studies at The London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts and the Academy of Live and Recorded Arts where she received a BA (Hons) in Acting awarded by The University of Greenwich.

Her Pilates training was taken with "The Pilates Center" on their Advanced Classical Pilates Teacher Training program. Established by sisters Amy Taylor Alpers and Rachel Taylor Segal with the guidance of Romana Kryzanowska (Joseph Pilates' protégée), at 950 hours is the most comprehensive of Pilates teacher training programs covering the entire body of work from beginner to advanced, on all pieces of equipment (including the mat).

Natasha has a calm and nurturing teaching style, subtly working every muscle from head to toe whilst encouraging proprioception and self-awareness. She will work with your postural patterns to balance musculature forces within the body using precise and controlled movement. "Return to Life", Joseph Pilates' book forms the fundamental basis of her classes (and she strongly encourages you to read it!). Above all, Pilates is about balance of the body, mind, and spirit.

She works with a huge array of clients from athletes to the elderly, women who are pre/post natal, people recovering from injury and those with sedentary or stressful jobs. She has a particular interest in Hypermobility having experienced first hand how effective Pilates is in strengthening the muscles that surround joints. She treats Pilates as a life-long journey and continues herself to take private classes and study - most recently taking workshops with Debora Kolwey.

Natasha is fascinated by the mind-body connection and the psychology behind movement, and along with having a very silly sense of humour she dreams of one day being able to train at the "Ecole Philippe Gaulier" in Paris with Philippe himself in the art of clowning... Tash can also be found practising yoga and making the most of all the London theatre and arts scene has to offer.
